Meeting With Your Advisor For the First Time
Meeting With Your Advisor For the First Time Hey all! If youre anything like me, you might be nervous about meeting with your Academic Advisor for the first time. This might be the first step you take in your academic career here at Illinois. I know that before I came to talk to my advisor, I had a list of questions I wanted to ask in my head. However, by the time I got to his office I forgot everything I wanted to talk about. If I could give new students some advice, it would be to not be so nervous and write down any questions. Your advisors are there to help you through any concerns you may have. Dont be afraid to ask questions or talk about any school-related topics. Next, I would be sure to talk openly about your goals for your time at Illinois. Your advisor will be able to help you make the best possible plan for you, especially if you want to study abroad, take summer classes, or take a different class than your originally decided. So, take it from me! Meeting your advisor and going over your schedule will be more exciting than scary. It will all start to feel real and hopefully prepare you for your first semester at Illinois! Have a good week ?? -Alex Alex Class of 2017 My major is Social Work and I love every minute of it. I grew up in a really small town called Braidwood, Illinois. Before I attended the University of Illinois, I went to Joliet Junior College.
